TELKOM Information Service (108) Is Developed to Serve the General Info

The information service (108) which have been known by people as the call center to request the telephone numbers of Telkom’s customers have been being developed so it may accommodate other questions which are general information. This service can be accessed by the customers from all operators whether by those who use home telephone (PSTN, Public Switch Telephone Network), fixed wireless such as Flexi, GSM, and other operators.
 
Those are as stated by the Vice President of Public and Marketing Communication of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TELKOM), Eddy Kurnia, in Bandung (March 29). Thus, aside from the information of local telephone, domestic code area, and country code, other various general information may be delivered by 108 as the improvement of society’s information needs.
 
Telkom, through it sub-company which operates the call center’s business, PT Infomedia Nusantara, have already conducted the enrichment of data and information to be delivered as the general information to the society. The new service of general information, Eddy continued, includes : General Information of phone numbers of Hospital/Emergency room, Ambulance, Ambassadors, 24-Hour pharmacies, phone shops (wartel), airports, bus stations, train stations, harbors, gas stations, PLN, GAS, PDAM, 24-Hour doctors,24-Hour clinics, SAR, schools/universities/education agencies, pawn shops, Banks, fire rescue, police offices, freeway information, PMI, Dinas Kebersihan, Dinas Pariwisata, Komnas HAM, YLKI, and LBH. “So, if you want to know which 24-hour pharmacy in Jakarta , just call 108 or 021-108 from those outside of Jakarta ,” Eddy said.
 
For the beginning step, Infomedia will provide data for 8 big cities such as Medan, Jakarta (Jabodetabek), Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Makassar, dan Denpasar. Meanwhile, according to Eddy, other cities with other information will be uploaded step by step.
 
For the next step,   108 information service (enhanced) will cover 46 big cities such as : NAD, Medan, Pematang Siantar, Padang, Batam, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, Cirebon, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Tasikmalaya, Semarang, Solo, Pekalongan, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Madiun, Jember, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Tarakan, Makassar, Manado, Palu, Kendari, Pare-Pare, Ambon, Papua, Mataram, Kupang, dan Denpasar.
 
Eddy said that 108 information service will be enriched with various information as the form of Telkom’s commitment to serve all the society’s developed information needs. He admitted that the enrichment of 108 services will demand a continuous updating effort toward provided data and information in 108’s database. In order to keep the validity of the provided data for society, Infomedia will keep conducting a phone-check process in 8 big cities.
