TELKOM Again Support Speedy Tour d'Indonesia

Jakarta, August 4, 2010 – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (TELKOM) again proves its commitment to support grand event of cycling sports in Indonesia by being a key sponsor of the Speedy Tourd’Indonesia event for the third time. Such international event planned to take place on 24 Oct to 4 Nov taking the route Jakarta-Bali.

President Director TELKOM Rinaldi Firmansyah admitted that the support from TELKOM to PB ISSI (Indonesian Cycling Sports Association) as the organizer of Speedy Tour d’Indonesia could not be separated from the successful cooperation having been built during the performance of Speedy Tour d’Indonesia year 2008 and 2009. “Learning from the performance in the previous years I am sure PB ISSI will be able to make many perfections to make the Speedy Tour d’Indonesia be more attractive,” he said.

TELKOM, as stated by Rinaldi Firmansyah, has a vision to make cycling sports event as a part of the community life style through the performance of Speedy Tour d’Indonesia as the most grand competition, both nationally and internationally.

Aside from improving cycling sports performance in Indonesia in general, this event is proper to popularize cycling as an economical transportation mode which is also good to the environment. In mid of the world worries regarding enviornment and energy crisis issue, such Speedy Tour d’Indonesia event becomes the proper answer. “Furthermore, such an internationally-recognized Speedy Tour d’Indonesia is one of the ways to support Indonesian tourism,” said Rinaldi.

Tour d’Indonesia is a cycling sports competition which is an official agenda of UCI (United Cycliste Internationale) and the largest in Indonesia. Year 2010 is the third time TELKOM Speedy sponsoring Tour d’Indonesia, and becomes part of TELKOM’s commitent to help develop sports activity particularly cycling in Indonesia.

RI President Cup that is a symbol of supreme best team performance is competed regularly at the Speedy Tour d’Indonesoa 2010, and the prize is provided at a total of USA 100,000 for champion at each stage and overall, both team and individual.

Speedy Tour d’Indonesia along 1,172.6 KM will also be participated by those specialized in sprint and mountain taking 9 stages.

SpeedyTour d’Indonesia has a total of 9 stages, 7 stages and 2 Criterium in which there are some routes of new stages like Cirebon-Pekalongan-Semarang

Speedy Tour d’Indonesia is started with Criterium in Jakarta, followed by Road Race taking the routes Bandung-Cirebon-Pekalongan-Semarang-Yogyakarta-Madiun-Surabaya-Gilimanuk-Denpasar, and Criterium at Alun-alun Renon to finish.

To spread and support the community’s involvement, all TELKOM offices located at cities of start or finish of stage, there are social activites made, pre-event and during event. Pre-event activity covers wiriting copetition, photography competition, fun bike and free style competition.

During the event, series osf activities cover Speedy Tour d’Indonesia race itself, and other entertaining activities such as school band, cheerleader, traditional art, and drumband that will entertain the program at the Finish of each stage . 

Other activities are Speedy Live Experience. This activity involves subscribers of Speedy and other TELKOM’s products to also take part in welcoming Speedy Tour d’Indonesia 2010 live like escorting the racing group using special car at each stage passed by or hold Start and Finish flag.

By involving subscribers, it is expected that they will have a sense of like to cycling race and at the same time give a special experience that can only be felt by subscribers of speedy or other TELKOM’s products.

Meanwhile, Vice President Public and Marketing Communication TELKOM, Eddy Kurnia, emphasized that the grand event of Speedy Tour d’Indonesia was not merely directed to socialize Speedy services but also as part of TELKOM CSR activity. “We hope Speedy Tour d’Indonesia will be an activity able to give many benefit and at the same time the interesting race,” he said.
