Telkom Flexi Launch Chatting and Social Networking Services

Jakarta, February 1, 2010 – Instant messaging and social networking become the reliable features offered by PT. Telekomunikasi IndonsiaTbk (Telkom) through  terminal bundling Flexi Chatting launched in this February 2010. Aside from Facebook and Twitter, the cellular phone also has an  instant feature like Flexi Messenger able to interconnect with Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk.

FlexiChatting is one of the products of Flexi On Device Portal (ODP) in the form of social networking application known as Instant Messaging (IM) planted directly in the Flexi terminal Bundling. “Application of this FlexiChatting enables the Flexi subscribers to send Instant Messaging (IM) to the same Flexi users with an unique identity in the form of number of each Flexi subscriber,” explained Vice President Public and Marketing Communication Telkom, Eddy Kurnia.

FlexiChatting facilitates Flexi users to make activity of chatting (Instant Messaging) either among Flexi, Yahoo Messenger or G-Talk, as it is available in special application already provided in terminal bundling ofFlexiChatting. Tariff applied is cheap and easily understood as it is calculated flat every week of usage. Tariff of FlexiChatting Rp 2.000 per week while Facebook and Twitter Rp 1.000 per week.

Flexi Chatting currently able to enjoy at three types of Terminal Bundling, such as,  ZTE S130, ZTE S366 and  ZTE S618. Facebook and Twitter services via Flexi itself may be enjoyed in all Flexi terminal bundling having menu of FlexiBrowser like  terminal bundling of Flexi Kompas and ODP of other Flexi afterwards.

Terminal bundling of FlexiChatting is also equipped with application of menu of Flexi Browser able to enjoy by all subscribers of Post paid Flexi (Flexi Classy) and Pre paid Flexi (Flexi Trendy) nationwide over service area of Telkom Flexi.

FlexiCHATTING has IM basic functions equipped with very complete features,  those are:

a. Alias: change initial account name based on Flexi (MDN) to a name easily remembered as the users want.

b. Friends’ list with status Online as well as Offline (Online & Offline List)

 

c. Active Chat

d. Buzz Friend

e. Emoticon

f. Contact Management (Add Friends,  Add Group, and Delete Group)

g. Chat Conference

h. Arrange Status

i. Other IM popular : Yahoo Messenger and Google-Talk (G-Talk)

Facebook and Twitter via Flexi also facilitate Flexi users to make activities available in this social networking. As FlexiChatting, Facebook and Twitter via Flexi also apply relatively cheap tariff and calculated flat every week of usage.

According to Vice President Public and Marketing Communication Telkom, Eddy Kurnia, Telkom prepares three reliable features to chase market, those are, Flexi ngROOMpi, Flexi Mobile Games, and Flexi Chatting.

Three Flexi reliable features  

“Aside from strengthening service network  infrastructure, Telkom has also prepared a number of service features to acquire subscribers,” said Eddy Kurnia. “The existence of features of Flexi ngROOMpi, Flexi Mobile Games, and Flexi Chatting makes Flexi not only communicate,” he added.

Flexi ngROOMpi service is conference call feature among the same Flexi users. While Flexi Mobile Games is a download service for cellular phone game via  games.telkomflexi.com  in which one of the transaction methods utilizes digital cash service called FlexiCASH or i-VAS.

Up to end of year 2009, number of Flexi subscribers nationwide has covered 15,7 millions. Telkom itself has targeted Flexi able to add at least 1,8 millions up to end of  2010. Optimism of subscribers’ target achievement is supported by Flexi service coverage over 320 cities in Indonesia with number of base transceiver station (BTS) over 5.000 units.
