Jakarta, July 27, 2010 – PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TELKOM) makes service area of Jakarta Selatan and Surabaya Selatan as pilot project of increasing capacity and capability of high speed internet service of Speedy. As the pilot project, since July 1, 2010, subscribers in the area are able to enjoy internet access of more high speed.
Vice President Public and Marketing Communication TELKOM, Eddy Kurnia, said, according to the subscribers’ feedback that speed of Speedy shall be added and that as an appreciation to Speedy loyal subscribers, TELKOM will increase speed from 384 Kbps to 512 Kbps for Socialia package, and from 512 Kbps to be 1 Mbps for Load package. Subscription tariff is fixed same as the old one.
”Now only Jakarta Selatan and Surabaya Selatan that have a chance to enjoy extra speed. Subscribers just call 147 to have this program” said Eddy Kurnia. ”However, after this pilot project we consider successful, other areas will also have a chance to have the same access speed by stages. In the period of this pilot project, subscribers may make speed test at www.telkomspeedy.com to measure speed of Speedy obtained instantly and live” he added.
Aside from increasing speed, TELKOM will also launch Speedy new packages expected to be able to meet various subscribers’ needs to speedy internet access. According to Eddy Kurnia, TELKOM continues to improve Speedy service, so that with the new packages, subscribers will have a new experience in having internet they have never been through before.
Eddy Kurnia explained that TELKOM always improved its service, among other thing, by increasing Speedy speed access. According to him, in the internet like today the community needs internet access more reliably and speedily.
According to him, now subscribers of Speedy all over Indonesia have reached 1.4 million. To increase number of subscribers, TELKOM will continuously increase Speedy penetration to many areas in Indonesia. Now Speedy service has covered 378 cities in Indonesia.
Eddy Kurnia added, now TELKOM is making finalization of expansion of fiber optic backbone construction, either connecting islands in Indonesia or connecting Indonesia with the US. If this project completed, it is expected that service of data, internet and IT of TELKOM will be more reliable and can meet various subscribers’ need.
