Surabaya, July 9th, 2010 - Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Syarif Hasan inaugurated the TELKOM Small Medium Enterprises (SME) Center and TELKOM Mobile Clinic for Cooperatives in East Java (8/7). Accompanied by the Governor of East Java Soekarwo and Head of Department of Cooperatives and SMEs in East Java Braman Setyo, the Minister inaugurated the two facilities from TELKOM together with the three other facilities, namely East Java SMEs Souvenir Center Building, East Java SMEs Product Exhibition Building and Griya Batik for East Java Tourism. The event was attended by the heads of department of cooperatives throughout Indonesia and the heads of relevant agencies.
Minister of Cooperatives and SME Syarif Hasan, in his speech stated that the Provincial Government of East Java has demonstrated consistency in promoting cooperatives and SME business. Syarif Hasan said that East Java not only has five SMEs facilities which was newly established, but also has a huge motivation to innovate.
Meanwhile, the East Java Governor Sukarwo reported that Online Business related to Cooperatives and SMEs has developed very rapidly. Until now, 1.853 SMEs had joined in plasa.com, e-commerce site owned by TELKOM and 500 of them are from East Java.
After the inauguration, Executive General Manager (EGM) Business Service Division TELKOM Slamet Riyadi signed a cooperative agreement with the Cooperatives Office of East Java and 16 other agencies. This is done to support online business development and SME Cooperative in East Java. Slamet hope cooperatives and small and medium businesses can take advantage of the existence of TELKOM SME Center and various cooperation which was agreed to succeed in their business.
