Earning 72 Trillion Rupiah in Revenue, Telkom's Transformation Shows Ability to Maintain the Company's Sustainable Growth

Jakarta, 2 August 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) closed the first half of 2022 with a fairly good performance, raking in 72 trillion rupiah in revenue or grew 3.6% over the same period last year. Telkom recorded 39.4 trillion rupiah in EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) and 13.3 trillion rupiah in net income. Both EBITDA and net profit grew positively by 4.5% and 6.9% YoY respectively, thanks to the Company's focus on its five main strategies and the transformation moves that made this achievement possible. 

Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah said, "To date, Telkom is still continuing its transformation steps by focusing on five main strategies aimed at increasing our competitive advantage, such as the Mitratel IPO last year and consolidating development of Data Center business, and s to prepare new engines of growth for the company via fixed mobile convergence, strengthening B2B IT Services capabilities , and selectively investing in digital companies."

In the first half of this year, Telkom's revenue composition moved dynamically in line with the company's transformation where the contribution of revenue from digital business continued to increase, as the legacy business revenue contribution decreased. This shift shows that the company's transformation is on the right track to keep growing sustainably in line with future business changes.

In the first half of 2022, Telkom began deployment of an international communication gateway in Manado that connects communication lines from eastern Indonesia to the United States to strengthen its telecommunication infrastructure. The Manado gateway is the second international communication gateway that Telkom owns. This digital highway is a tangible manifestation of efforts to evenly distribute access to telecommunications and information throughout Indonesia, while providing the best digital experience for customers.

Telkom also finalized development of the first phase of its large-capacity HyperScale Data Center, which began operations this year. This data center is present as a digital hub for digital economy actors in various sectors. The entire data center is integrated with Telkom's submarine cable communication infrastructure and system to accommodate customer needs. Thus, all digital economy players would not need to worry and have difficulty finding means to support the needs of data storage, servers, and other matters related to digital activities.

In the fixed segment broadband network, IndiHome raked in 13.8 trillion rupiah in revenue or grew 7.4% YoY with  up to 19.2% contribution to the company's revenue. Until the end of June 2022, IndiHome had 8.9 million customers or grew 7.1% over the same period last year. In addition, IndiHome's ARPU was also increasingly stable at around 270 thousand rupiah. IndiHome continues to enrich content through bundling packages IndiHome Netflix. With service networks available in up to 499 out of the total 514 cities and regencies in Indonesia, IndiHome remains committed to encourage development of a digital society.

In the Mobile segment, Telkomsel managed to record 43.6 trillion rupiah in revenue. Telkomsel subscribers at the end of June 2022 was 169.7 million with 119.3 million mobile data users, which pushed data traffic to grow by 21.4% from the same period last year. In order to develop infrastructure that supports digital business, Telkomsel has 154,000 units of 4G BTS and is gradually building 5G BTS. Telkomsel owns 255,107 units of BTS or grew 7.5% YoY, of which 204,908 were 3G/4G/5G BTS  as per the end of the first semester of 2022. Furthermore, Telkomsel continues to strengthen its capabilities in the digital business through PT Telkomsel Ekosistem Digital (with corporate brand identity: INDICO). In May 2022, Indico's Kuncie application service with Google launched Gapura Digital and the Google Primer learning module.

As of June 2022, the Enterprise segment recorded 8.7 trillion rupiah in revenue, of which B2B IT Services and digital services for corporations were the largest contributors. Telkom continues to strengthen its capabilities in the cloud business, including by establishing partnerships with global technology companies. Meanwhile, the Wholesale and International segments recorded 7.9 trillion rupiah in revenue or grew by 14.6% YoY. Telkom continues to develop infrastructure  at home and abroad, such as by participating in a consortium for the construction of the Bifrost submarine cable communication system and SEA-ME-WE 6 (South East Asia - Middle East - West Europe 6), whose completion is estimated in 2024 and 2025. Through its subsidiary, Telin, Telkom has a 222,260 km long sea cable communication system that connects domestic infrastructure to overseas, including to Europe and the United States.

In the telecommunication tower business, Mitratel raked in 3.7 trillion rupiah in revenue or grew 15.5% YoY with EBITDA and its net profit grew by 16.6% and 27.2%, respectively. Mitratel's EBITDA and net profit margins also increased by 77.5% and 23.9%, in line with the company's commitment to optimizing value for shareholders . In line with financial performance, the number of Mitratel's collocations and tenants grew by 13.8% and 20.3% YoY, respectively. Mitratel is also developing its fiber-to-the-tower business as part of its strategy to become a digital infrastructure company. Currently, Telkom is conducting a tower consolidation process in which Mitratel will again take over the tower that Telkomsel owns. 

Meanwhile, data center and cloud are still the business focus that Telkom has developed in line with the significantly growing demand from the company's digital business activities. Telkom has 27 data centers consisting of 22 domestic and five overseas including tier 3 and 4 in Singapore. In this business, TelkomGroup offers several products and solutions such as shared services colocation, dedicated colocation, working room, cross connect, smart hand, and data center interconnect. Now Telkom is conducting a data center consolidation process under one entity with a brand called NeutraDC , for further unlocking value in order to create greater value, which is expected to be realized in the next two years.

Throughout the first half of this year, the company has spent 13.5 trillion rupiah for capital expenditures or 18.7% out of the total revenue. Capital expenditures are mainly used to strengthen network infrastructure and support to increase capacity in the fixed business line and mobile for the best digital customer experience.
