Jakarta - Access to employment for persons with disabilities in Indonesia remains far from equal. Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in the 2023 Thematic Population Analysis shows that only 21.65 percent of persons with disabilities are employed, while 78.35 percent still have no access to work opportunities. Amid the rapid growth of the digital economy, this figure serves as a stark reminder that full inclusion has yet to be achieved.
Responding to this challenge, Telkom Indonesia launched RiseAble, an empowerment program designed to strengthen the capacity of disability-owned MSMEs so they can compete in the digital era. Held on 5–7 November 2025 at House of Arsenia Tondano, South Jakarta, the program brought together 60 participants with disabilities from the Greater Jakarta area to undergo intensive training focused on digital business skills, business literacy, and product development strategies.
More than just training, RiseAble was born from the belief that every individual—including persons with disabilities—can grow when given the right access, space, and support. Over three days, participants were equipped with practical knowledge and skills that they can immediately apply to their businesses, enabling greater independence and long-term business sustainability.
“Telkom Indonesia is committed to delivering digital solutions that generate real benefits for society, including the disability community,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia. “RiseAble is our effort to create an inclusive space where disability talents can grow and take part in the digital economy ecosystem. Inclusion is an essential pillar of Indonesia’s digital transformation.”
As part of Telkom’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, RiseAble does not stop at training. Participants will later be connected to a partner pooling platform, allowing companies and the public to access products and services created by disability-owned MSMEs more easily. This initiative also contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which emphasizes the importance of providing fair employment opportunities for all groups.
Through RiseAble, Telkom Indonesia continues to strengthen its vision of building a digital ecosystem that opens opportunities for everyone, including persons with disabilities, to thrive. Because behind every limitation, there is always great potential waiting to grow when provided with the right support.
