Jakarta, April 7, 2026 – Digital security challenges in Indonesia are becoming increasingly complex as internet usage among children and teenagers continues to rise. According to UNICEF data from 2025, nearly 80 percent of Indonesia’s population has access to the internet, with young people spending an average of 5.4 hours per day in digital spaces. However, this high level of access has not been fully matched by adequate security awareness. Data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemenkomdigi) in 2026 shows that 50 percent of Indonesian children have been exposed to sexual content on social media, while another 42 percent feel uncomfortable or fearful due to experiences in digital spaces. This condition highlights the urgent need to strengthen digital literacy and protection from an early age.
In response to this challenge, Telkom Indonesia presents CyberHeroes, a digital education initiative designed to equip young people with an understanding of cybersecurity. The program is part of Telkom’s commitment to enhancing public digital literacy, especially among younger generations, to better prepare them for risks in digital spaces.
Carrying the spirit of Bersama Jadi Bisa (Together We Can), this initiative promotes the creation of inclusive, safe learning environments where all members of society, including people with disabilities, have equal opportunities to understand and use technology wisely. Telkom encourages the public not only to become digitally literate but also to use technology safely, responsibly, and productively to support social life, education, and well-being.
This educational program was conducted in a hybrid format across several schools, including SMP Warga Surakarta (200 students online), SLB B Pangudi Luhur, West Jakarta (100 students), and SDN Blimbing 1 and SDN Blimbing 3, Tangerang (each with 60 students). Through interactive, easy-to-understand sessions, participants were equipped with knowledge of the dangers of cyberbullying, the risks of manipulation by unknown individuals, and the importance of being cautious when interacting with strangers online. This approach was designed to help students identify potential risks while building basic self-protection skills in digital spaces.
“Telkom Indonesia is committed to providing safe and inclusive technology utilization for all communities. Through the CyberHeroes program, we aim to instill awareness of the importance of protecting personal data and behaving wisely in digital spaces from an early age. With the spirit of Together We Can, we believe every Indonesian child can also Bisa PandAI, meaning they are able to understand and use technology safely to support their growth and development,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia.
Schools also welcomed the initiative positively. “We highly appreciate Telkom’s concern for our students. The material on being cautious of strangers online is highly relevant and helps our students become more careful when engaging in digital activities,” said Lince Saragih, ICT Teacher at SLB B Pangudi Luhur.
More than just education, this initiative is part of Telkom’s efforts to build a safe and inclusive digital ecosystem. By strengthening digital literacy among vulnerable groups, Telkom hopes to minimize cybercrime risks while fostering a resilient and empowered younger generation in the digital era.
Aligned with its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) commitment, particularly in the education pillar, this initiative also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 4 on Quality Education. Telkom believes that through collaboration and a spirit of togetherness, a safe and inclusive digital transformation can be realized across all levels of society.
