Jakarta, 26 March 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) inaugurated the third neuCentrIX data center in the Jakarta region, precisely in Meruya as part of efforts to accelerate growth of its digital platform business as one its digital business focus. Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director Dian Rachmawan launched the center, which is standardized as Tier-3, or having a service level assurance with less than 1.6 hours downtime per year (99.82% guaranteed availability).

Telkom operates data centers located in 13 major cities in Indonesia, namely Medan, Batam, Pekanbaru, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Manado. With a competitive advantage of having the widest coverage that extends to other countries and having the largest eyeball access in Indonesia, neuCentrIX is able to meet the demands for digital platform and connectivity that will support business development in the future. neuCentrIX is also a carrier neutral data center, enabling interconnection between several telecommunication operators, thus providing flexibility for businesses in designing their networks

Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director Dian Rachmawan said “neuCentrIX is a TelkomGroup initiative to serve the wholesale market in the telecommunications industry and the digital ecosystem, by providing data center services with the widest coverage and global competitiveness. In competition with global and domestic business players, Telkom is optimistic to expand the capacity and reach of data centers in various cities in Indonesia.”

A Temasek projection showed Indonesia's digital economy will more than triple from US$40 billion to US$133 billion in 2025. However, this digital economy potential can only be realized with adequate infrastructure support, such as developing internet connections across Indonesia. The digital economy development roadmap by expansive development of internet connection offers opportunities for service providers to increase their business scalability. In addition to internet connection, the data center is also an enabler that plays an important role as a key business driver for local and global providers.

Data and information play an important role in the digital economy to increase the value of businesses, hence "Data is a New Oil" phrase, which means that data is very valuable and its value continues to increase when it is completely and accurately collected, connected, and relevant to other data and used at the right time.

The high value of data and information, prompts companies to treat it as a securely-guarded valuable asset that requires proper maintenance. With digitalization on the rise, a data center has become a much more strategic sector, within the scope of IT management and in the business as a whole. Furthermore, data centers are the backbone of enterprise digitalization, helping to secure long-term success and having a direct impact on costs and revenues.

According to an IDC survey in 2020 on 100 internet service providers (ISPs) in 20 cities in Indonesia, there are at least four things to consider when choosing a data center, namely price; products, services and solutions offered; value added services; and wide coverage.

"With all neuCentrIX competitive advantages and strengths, as well as Telkom Indonesia’s brand image and track record in the digital business, they would strengthen neuCentrIX data center position as the customer’s best choice for data center. This is a manifestation of Telkom's support through digitalization to make Indonesia even better," Dian said.
