Jakarta 2 August 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) continues to strengthen its telecommunications towers provider business through its subsidiary, PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi (Mitratel), by investing in assets (inbreng) 798 telecommunications towers. Telkom and Mitratel marked the new move with the signing of an Inbreng & Head of Agreement Deed, which was carried out in a hybrid manner with strict health protocols. Budi Setyawan Wijaya and Mitratel President Director Theodorus Ardi Hartoko were physically present at the event, while Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director, Bogi Witjaksono, and Telkom Network & IT Solution Director, Herlan Wijanarko, were present through video conference,.
Telkom Strategic Portfolio Director, Budi Setyawan Wijaya said that Telkom’s transferring its telecommunication tower assets (inbreng) to Mitratel is part of the TelkomGroup portfolio arrangement and is a manifestation of Telkom's commitment to foster Mitratel a vehicle as well as a strong and dominating player in the tower industry. “The telecommunication tower industry is a very prospective industry amid the potential development of Indonesia's digital economy, in addition to the arrival of fifth generation technology. TelkomGroup believes that with this step, Mitratel is able to strengthen its position as the national telecommunications tower industry leader and provide high value for the company and stakeholders."
In addition to efforts in reorganizing the portfolio, Telkom’s handover of its towers to Mitratel is also a business strategy to increase capabilities in telecommunications infrastructure. The transferred towers have collocation potential and tenancy ratios above the industry average with a solid structure and coverage throughout Indonesia. Inbreng is a strong capital for Mitratel's tower business to move forward.
"The telecommunication tower business is a very promising business, given that to date, telecommunication operators will continue to expand in improving network quality and expanding their service range, so we believe the telecommunication tower business will still record positive performance," Budi added.
President Director of Mitratel Theodorus Ardi Hartoko said this corporate action shows Mitratel's commitment in supporting TelkomGroup portfolio restructuring. In the future, Mitratel is committed to properly managing the tower's assets and business in order to provide the best value for shareholders.
With the 798 towers asset transfer transaction, Mitratel now owns more than 24,000 telecommunication towers. This is one of the steps that TelkomGroup takes through Mitratel to support the realization of value creation in order to establish the company as the number one player in the Indonesian telecommunications tower industry.
