Jakarta, January 18, 2019 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk inaugurated the operation of the Neutral Cloud (neuCentrIX) Data Center in Manado, North Sulawesi. Telkom's Director of Network & IT Solution, Zulhelfi Abidin and Telkom’s Director of Wholesale & International Service, Abdus Somad Arief, marked the inauguration by cutting the ribbon in Manado, Thursday (17/1). NeuCentrIX presents a data center that is seamlessly connected domestically and globally.
NeuCentrIX in Manado is a tier-2, 460-square-meter data center facility with a 227-square-meter IT hall. The data center is strategically located in the Second Gateway that serves as the door to global connectivity and the main Point of Presence (PoP), which is the aggregator of a national network that will improve latency, packet loss and HSI jitter to the United States and Eastern Indonesia (KTI).
According to Abdus Somad Arief, neuCentrIX was built not just for domestic business players in the digital, ICTs and the Internet sector but also for the global players.
"NeuCentrIX’s position in Manado is very strategic because it is a double gate. It is a digital gateway to the Eastern Indonesia Region through the Sulawesi-Maluku-Papua Cable System (SMPCS) and also a gateway to the United States through the South East Asia-United States (SEA- US). Moreover, Manado is also the easternmost node of the Indonesia Global Gateway (IGG) sea cable that connects it to Batam and Singapore. This is part of our efforts to develop Indonesia's internet towards industry 4.0," Abdus Somad Arief said.
On the same occassion, Zulhelfi said NeuCentrIX Manado was developed to meet international standards and to accommodate market opportunities for content providers in the region.
"NeuCentrIX is Telkom's data center concept that is open and neutral for all operators and serves as an aggregator between network, eyeball, and digital content. The presence of neuCentrIX as a data center network is expected to boost digital economy not only in Eastern Indonesia but also in Indonesia. Therefore, neuCentrIX’s role is very crucial in developing Indonesia as the bridge and as the world's internet hub,” Zulhelfi said.
Telkom currently operates 14 neuCentrIX centers at home and abroad. In 2019, the company aims for neuCentrIX to reach 30 spots throughout Indonesia so that neuCentrIX would become the largest and the most expansive facility for internet ecosystem and internet hubbing in Indonesia. The presence of neuCentrIX as a data center network is expected to accelerate the digital ecosystem not only in Indonesia but also in the world, and it would be able to make Telkom's aspiration to become a Global Digital Hub a reality.
