Yogyakarta – Persons with disabilities have equal rights to access education, skills development, and self-improvement opportunities in the digital era. According to PAIR (2023), the increasing use of digital devices among persons with disabilities, particularly young people aged 16 to 30, can enhance access to health information and related services. Therefore, strengthening digital skills is a crucial step to enable this group to actively participate and become empowered in the era of digital transformation.
As part of its commitment to promoting digital inclusivity, Telkom Indonesia organized a training program titled “Digital Skills Training for Special School Teachers and Persons with Disabilities in Yogyakarta”, held on December 12–13, 2025, in Yogyakarta. The program was attended by 75 participants, consisting of teachers, MSME actors, and university students with disabilities. This initiative forms part of Telkom Indonesia’s efforts to expand access to digital capacity building across various segments of society.
Over the two-day program, participants received training on digital learning media for teachers and on digital marketing for MSME actors and students, followed by the development of mini projects in the form of future digitalization plans. The training was delivered through interactive sessions, discussions, and hands-on practice tailored to the specific needs of each participant group. For teachers, the program also encouraged sustainability by requiring them to re-deliver the digital materials to at least 10 students, thereby expanding the learning impact.
“As a digital company, Telkom Indonesia believes that digital transformation must be accessible to all, including persons with disabilities. Through this training, we aim to ensure that digital skills can be applied in real terms, whether in education, business development, or individual capacity building, to create sustainable impact,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia.
This disability-focused training program is part of Telkom Indonesia’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) implementation, which focuses on community empowerment and human resource capacity development. The initiative also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), in line with Telkom Indonesia’s commitment to building an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem.
