In today’s hyperconnected digital era, the internet is no longer merely a source of entertainment; it has become a living space that shapes how young generations learn, interact, and grow. According to data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) 2025, internet penetration in Indonesia has reached 80.66%, with Generation Z as the dominant user group. However, behind these vast opportunities lies a serious challenge: cyberbullying, exposure to harmful content, and digital addiction that threaten the physical, mental, and social well-being of young people (UNICEF, 2022).

To address these challenges, Telkom Indonesia launched CYBERHEROES 2025, an educational digital initiative designed to foster awareness and digital resilience among students. Through a collaborative approach with the education sector, Telkom creates a fun and relevant learning environment that aligns with the character of the young generation, encouraging them to become “digital heroes” who are smart, safe, and responsible.

Through CYBERHEROES, participants are equipped with the literacy skills to use the internet in a healthy, productive, and positive manner. They also learn to protect themselves from various online risks and negative impacts, such as cyberbullying, hoaxes, and harmful content exposure.

Throughout 2025, CYBERHEROES has engaged 5,314 students from various cities, including Kupang, Surakarta, Bandung, Malang, Purbalingga, Majenang, Surabaya, Palembang, Makassar, Jakarta, and Pontianak. The program adopts a watch-party concept, enabling simultaneous participation from multiple schools. Beyond listening to materials, participants actively engage in discussions on digital safety, online ethics, and practical strategies to deal with cyber threats in their daily lives.

“As a digital company, Telkom Indonesia is committed not only to building connectivity infrastructure but also to equipping communities with strong digital literacy,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia. “Through CYBERHEROES, we aim to nurture a young generation capable of protecting themselves and their communities in the digital space.”

CYBERHEROES serves as a tangible example of how digital education can be delivered inclusively and engagingly without losing its educational essence. The enthusiasm of participants from various regions demonstrates that digital literacy is a fundamental need in today’s education landscape.

This program is part of the Education and Digital Inclusion pillar under Telkom Indonesia’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiative and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 4 (Quality Education), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Through CYBERHEROES, Telkom Indonesia is not merely teaching digital literacy; it’s building a generation of digital heroes: young people who are intelligent, resilient, and ready to face the digital world with confidence and critical thinking.
