Telkom Inaugurates Submarine Cable Communication System South East Asia-Middle East-West Europe 5

In order to make Indonesia as the hub of world telecommunications, TelkomGroup inaugurates the operation of mega projects Cable Communication System (SKKL) Southeast Asia-Middle East-West Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) in Telkom Landing Station (TLS) Beaches kindreds, Dumai, on December 28, 2016.

"The inauguration of this submarine cable project reinforces Indonesia as the telecommunications hub of the world", said Director of Wholesale & International Service Telkom Honesti Bashir at the inauguration ceremony. "SEA-ME-WE 5 increased its interest SKKL globally, such as Dumai to Malacca Cable System (DMCs), Batam Singapore Cable System (BSCS), Asia America Gateway (AAG), and Singapore Japan Cable System (SJC). The whole cable system was constructed in order to realize the vision of TELIN TelkomGroup as manager of international business to become The World's Hub for TIMES ", he said.
 
"The Construction of SEA-ME-WE 5 commenced on August 29, 2014 and has been ready for operation since December 13, 2016," explained Director of Network, Information Technology & Solution Telkom Abdus Somad Arif were also present at the inauguration ceremony. "The communication system of submarine cables complement submarine cables that have been owned by Telkom Group. In the future, even a whole series of submarine cable systems belonging to Telkom will be a complete configuration with the presence of Southeast Asia United States (SEA-US) as well as Indonesia Global Gateway (IGG)", he explained.
 
Telkom Group through Telin collaborating with 18 global telecommunications companies through ownership of a consortium to build a submarine cable with a length of 20,000 kilometers linking Indonesia directly with the 15 countries of Southeast Asia, the Middle East to Europe. Dumai will be the starting point of this landing station until the SEA-ME-WE 5 ended in Toulon, France.
 
"SEA-ME-WE-5 has a capacity of 24 terabits per second using technology 100G, so as to meet the bandwidth requirements continue to increase between Asia and Europe with low latency. Thus, TelkomGroup can provide a more reliable service and quality", said Abdus Somad Arief.
 
TelkomGroup is also currently in the process in the development of SKKL South East Asia-United States (SEA-US) that connects directly from Manado to Los Angeles and Indonesia Global Gateway (IGG) which connects Manado to Dumai, complementing the achievement of the goals to make Indonesia as a Global Digital TIMES Hub.
 
The entire infrastructure development initiatives undertaken by this TelkomGroup is done to realize the vision of Telkom to become The King of Digital in the Region. In the end, all the infrastructure is dedicated to promote the establishment of digital Indonesian society for the advancement of the nation.
