Jakarta – The availability of blood supplies remains a serious challenge across Indonesia, as rising demand for transfusions has not been matched by the number of active donors. According to World Health Organization (WHO) standards, a country should ideally maintain blood stock equivalent to at least 2% of its total population. However, data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (2023) indicate a deficit of approximately 700,000 to 1.1 million blood bags relative to the safe threshold. This situation causes several regions to frequently face blood shortages, particularly during periods of declining donor participation, underscoring the need for cross-sector collaboration to ensure a stable blood supply.
As part of its commitment to humanitarian and public health issues, Telkom Indonesia organized blood donation activities in three major cities: Bandung, Makassar, and Jakarta. The first activity was held in Makassar on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, simultaneous blood donation events were held at Telkom Japati in Bandung and at Graha Merah Putih, Telkom Indonesia, in Jakarta.

The initiative successfully collected 71 blood bags in Makassar, 106 in Bandung, and 155 in Jakarta. With a total of 332 blood bags collected, the initiative represents a tangible contribution to meeting blood supply needs and reflects the strong social awareness and enthusiasm of Telkom employees.
“As a national digital company, Telkom Indonesia not only focuses on strengthening services and technological transformation but also remains committed to delivering meaningful social contributions to the community. By organizing blood donation drives in Bandung, Makassar, and Jakarta, Telkom hopes this initiative will support the national blood stock through active employee participation. This concrete action reflects the company’s commitment to helping others and strengthening solidarity and social care within society,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom.

As part of its sustainability commitment, Telkom Indonesia continues to strengthen the implementation of its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. Telkom strives to improve access to healthcare services, support the national blood supply, and deliver meaningful contributions that enhance long-term public health resilience.
