Bandung, April 18, 2026 – Based on 2024 data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), 64.5 percent of MSME players in Indonesia are women, equivalent to approximately 37 million people. Meanwhile, data from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) show that women's contribution to the MSME sector accounts for up to 61 percent of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This figure underscores the strategic role of women as a vital pillar of the national economy that requires continuous strengthening.
In response to this potential, Telkom Indonesia, through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, organized a series of intensive training sessions for 50 women MSME entrepreneurs from April 16–18, 2026. The participants came from diverse backgrounds, including survivors of violence, who are currently strengthening their economic independence by developing micro, small, and medium enterprises.
The three-day training program took place at two locations: West Bandung Regency on the first and second days, and Telkom University on the third day. Carrying the spirit of "Bersama Jadi Bisa" (Together We Can), the activity was designed to equip female entrepreneurs with digital skills, the use of modern technology, and practical abilities to enhance competitiveness in the digital economy.
During the training, participants received a comprehensive curriculum. The first day focused on strengthening the entrepreneurial mindset and digital marketing strategies. The second day continued with business management, financial literacy, and an introduction to utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for content creation and design using tools like Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. On the final day, the focus shifted to hands-on product development, including culinary processing, such as dim sum, and the creation of craft products for business diversification.
"We want to ensure that female MSME entrepreneurs have equal access to technology and innovation. Through this training, they are encouraged to 'Go Digital' by utilizing AI to improve business efficiency, and to 'Be Creative' in creating high-value, superior products. With strong digital literacy and technical skills, we hope participants can grow into independent and resilient entrepreneurs. We believe that through inclusive collaboration, together we can strengthen the nation's economy," said Hery Susanto, representative of Telkom Indonesia management.
This program is a strategic step in building an MSME ecosystem that is more modern, inclusive, and globally competitive. By providing empowerment spaces for women from various backgrounds, Telkom Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5 on Gender Equality and Goal 8 on Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth. Telkom Indonesia believes that empowering female entrepreneurs is a long-term investment in creating sustainable community welfare.
