Telkom Indonesia Trains Fasil Rangers through Training of Trainers to Support MSME Digital Transformation

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Indonesia’s economy, accounting for more than half of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employing a large share of the workforce. However, the level of digital technology adoption in this sector remains relatively low. The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) highlighted that out of approximately 65.4 million MSMEs in Indonesia, only 22% are connected to digital platforms. At the same time, the rest still rely on manual record-keeping and conventional marketing. Limited infrastructure, digital literacy gaps, and perceived high costs and risks influence this low adoption rate. Without adequate support in education, incentives, and policy, MSMEs will struggle to enhance their competitiveness amid the rapid flow of the digital economy.

In response to this challenge, Telkom Indonesia is committed to bridging the digital divide by providing on-site training programs for MSMEs across various regions. Telkom involves Fasil Rangers, facilitators specially trained to serve as digital transformation agents who deliver education, practical training, and ongoing consultations to MSME players. Through this approach, Telkom aims for MSMEs not only to understand the conceptual benefits of digital technology but also to gain practical skills in applying it to manage daily operations, boost productivity, and expand market access.

One tangible example of this initiative is the “Training of Trainers: AI Applications for MSMEs” program, held on October 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM WIB, attended by 135 participants. The training focused on utilising artificial intelligence to support various business functions, including operational optimisation, targeted marketing strategies, and more efficient, accurate data management. The participation of hundreds of Fasil Rangers reflects their high commitment and enthusiasm in strengthening digital capacity, which they can later transfer directly to the MSMEs they mentor.

“As a digital company, Telkom is committed to continuously supporting MSME digitalisation because we believe that digital transformation is key to strengthening national competitiveness in today’s increasingly globalised world. Through this inclusive training program, we aim to ensure that MSMEs can optimise digital technologies—especially AI—not only to survive challenges but also to achieve sustainable growth. With proper guidance, we believe Indonesian MSMEs can level up and make greater contributions to the national economy as Go Digital MSMEs,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia.

This initiative is part of Telkom’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s digital ecosystem. The program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), which promotes welfare through entrepreneurship, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), which emphasises digital infrastructure and technological innovation. Through this effort, Telkom demonstrates a concrete commitment to ensuring that MSMEs are not left behind in the global digital transformation while maintaining business relevance in the ever-evolving technological era.
