TelkomGroup Services in Jayapura Resumes Normal

The technician team was able to connect the SMPCS submarine cable Biak/Sorong and Jayapura directions on board the DNEX Pacific Link (DPL) vessel. As the submarine cables are connected, as of 8 June, 2021 at 14.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), normal services in Jayapura and its surrounding areas and throughout Papua resumed.

 

Jakarta, 8 June 2021 –  PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) resumes normal voice and data services for Jayapura and its surrounding areas after they completed the process to connect submarine cables from the Biak/Sorong and Jayapura directions. They completed the connecting process and deployment to move the route on 8 June, 2021, after previously raising the Sulawesi Maluku Papua Cable System (SMPCS) sea cable from the Biak/Sorong and Jayapura directions. As the submarine cables to Biak/Sorong and Jayapura are now connected, as of 8 June, 2021 at 14.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), normal services in Jayapura and its surrounding areas and throughout Papua resumed.

Telkom President Director, Ririek Adriansyah said "the DPL vessel has been on location since 31 May, 2021, where the work process began with preparation and analysis of the surrounding natural conditions. Telkom continued to strive to speed up completing the SMPCS cable connection in time according to the target so that people can resume conveniently enjoying TelkomGroup services.

Ririek expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in connecting the SMPCS submarine cable  for their support, as well as to customers in Jayapura and its surrounding areas who remain loyal to using TelkomGroup services.
