Jakarta - Amid the acceleration of the national digital transformation, Indonesian women continue to face challenges in accessing and effectively using technology. UN Women data (2025) shows that although women manage approximately 64.5% of MSMEs in Indonesia, the digital gap—particularly in the adoption of advanced technologies, remains a major barrier to improving business competitiveness. This condition is further reinforced by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data from 2025, which show that around 11.89% of households in Indonesia are headed by women, making women’s economic empowerment a strategic issue for sustainable development.

In response to these challenges, Telkom Indonesia, through its Empowerment for Women program throughout 2025, has reached 740 women from diverse backgrounds and regions across Indonesia. The program is designed inclusively to support the enhancement of digital capabilities and women’s economic independence, targeting MSME entrepreneurs, coastal women, housewives, and female heads of households.

A variety of training sessions were conducted using an applied approach tailored to local needs. The materials included product processing and packaging, digital marketing, packaging Design, and the utilization of technologies such as live streaming and artificial intelligence (AI) for business promotion. In addition, Telkom provided skills and character development training, including hand-drawn and stamped batik, bouquet and gift arrangement, and legal and digital literacy for vulnerable women, strengthening the PKK group's capacities. Through this approach, Telkom not only delivers technical skills but also builds confidence and readiness for women to adapt in the digital era.

“Women’s empowerment is a strategic social investment that forms the foundation of national economic resilience. Through the Empowerment for Women program, Telkom Indonesia seeks to build an ecosystem that enables women to leverage technology as an opportunity. We believe that when women are empowered digitally and economically, the impact will be felt broadly by families and communities,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia.

The Empowerment for Women program is part of Telkom Indonesia’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) implementation, aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Through this initiative, Telkom Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to delivering inclusive and sustainable digital transformation while encouraging women’s active participation in national economic development.
