YOGYAKARTA, April 27, 2026 – The rapid advancement of digital technology, particularly the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), has brought significant changes to various human activities, including the education sector. However, according to the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in 2025, 72.66% of respondents did not use AI, and of those, 46.56% reported being unaware of AI technology. This is due to the ongoing technological disparity in Indonesia, especially in certain regions that remain unfamiliar with AI.
To address this challenge, Telkom Indonesia, through Bisa PandAI, organized an AI utilization workshop for 400 High School (SMA) and Vocational School (SMK) teachers, as well as educators seeking to enhance their digital competence. The two-day training began on April 27, 2026, in Yogyakarta. Participants were equipped with an essential curriculum, ranging from an introduction to AI in education and AI tools for teachers to effective prompting techniques, AI-based material and evaluation creation, and the crucial understanding of AI ethics in the school environment.
During the workshop, Telkom Indonesia used methods such as material presentations, AI demonstrations, hands-on practice, Q&A discussions, and learning-material projects. This approach supports educators in effectively implementing the knowledge gained from the workshop.
Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia, Hery Susanto, emphasized, "As a digital company, Telkom Indonesia is committed to accompanying educators in the era of artificial intelligence. Telkom realizes that no matter how sophisticated the technology, the role of a teacher will never be replaced. However, through this training, Telkom wants to ensure that Indonesian educators are equipped to utilize AI. We believe that with a spirit of collaboration and the drive for innovation—Bersama Jadi Bisa—we can create a generation of educators who are more adaptive, creative, and ready to produce the superior talents of the future."
This AI workshop for teachers is a tangible manifestation of Telkom Indonesia's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL). The initiative aligns with the company's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable education and support lifelong learning opportunities. Moving forward, Telkom Indonesia hopes this program provides sustainable benefits by enhancing teacher competence while encouraging the optimal and wise use of digital technology to advance education in the country.
