JAKARTA, July 23, 2026 – Strengthening village independence has become one of the vital foundations in driving inclusive economic growth in Indonesia. In line with this effort, the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto stated that the number of independent villages continues to increase, now reaching 20,503 villages—growing by 4.38 percent compared to 17,203 independent villages recorded in 2024. Supporting this positive trend, TelkomGroup continues to deliver tangible contributions through the development of Purwaraja Village into a Bamboo Tourism Village that highlights cultural potential, local coffee, and signature culinary delights as community economic drivers.

Commemorating Telkom Indonesia’s 61st anniversary under the spirit of "Bersama Telkom Jadi Bisa" (Together with Telkom, We Can), the company continuously strengthens its contribution to fostering community independence through various sustainable empowerment initiatives. One such initiative is implemented through BISA Kreatif and the Village Foster Program (Desa Binaan), which focus on developing local potential. Assistance, which began rolling out in September 2025, is now showing significant results. Purwaraja Village has successfully evolved into a tourism destination offering cultural experiences through the Mabokuy art performance (Manusia, Boboko, Dudukuy)—a unique attraction featuring dancers inside giant traditional woven bamboo replicas. Additionally, the village presents high-quality local coffee and various traditional culinary offerings that serve as tourist attractions while opening business opportunities and boosting community income.

This development program is realized through comprehensive mentoring, ranging from tourism infrastructure enhancement, local coffee and culinary product development, tourist destination management training, to marketing capacity strengthening through social media utilization. This continuous mentoring ensures that the community can independently manage their village potential, expand market reach, and create added value that directly impacts local economic growth.

Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia, Hery Susanto, stated, "Through the development of the Bamboo Tourism Village in Purwaraja Village, Telkom aims to ensure that every innovation and support provided can optimize local potential, ranging from arts and culture, coffee, to signature culinary items. We believe that community empowerment rooted in local wealth not only preserves cultural heritage but also opens sustainable economic opportunities for the community. Telkom will continue to strengthen collaboration so that every local potential can develop into a resource capable of enhancing welfare while possessing competitiveness on a broader scale."

The Bamboo Tourism Village development program is part of Telkom Indonesia’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) implementation in building an inclusive, independent, and sustainable community ecosystem. This initiative also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through job creation and MSME strengthening, and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through cultural preservation and sustainable rural area development.
