Jakarta, 30 September 2020 – In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic that still ravages the world, including Indonesia, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has consistently pushed for national economic growth, by increasing the corporate domestic component rate.

"TelkomGroup is committed to supporting the government program to increase the use of domestic products in order to reduce imported components and absorb more labor, so that it would boost national economic growth in the future," Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah said during an online meeting between Telkom directors and commissioners and technology owners on Wednesday (30/9).

Ririek asked in the meeting for support and commitment from technology owners to implement strategies and roadmap to increase domestic component rate, through which TelkomGroup tries to bridge technology owners and local manufacturers in realizing the domestic component rate, without compromising the quality of goods and services at competitive prices.

To date, the rate of domestic component use in TelkomGroup continues to increase, from 24% in 2016 to 34% at the end of 2019. Telkom has set a target to reach 43% of domestic component use by 2024. The biggest potential for increasing domestic component is in the broadband sector on the Fiber To The Home (FTTH) and optical transmission, especially in Optical Network Termination (ONT) components, Set Top Box (STB), as well as fiber optic cables.

Rizal Mallarangeng, a Telkom commissioner who took part in the meeting, said he appreciated TelkomGroup's moves in increasing the domestic component rate. Rizal said that TelkomGroup must play an active role in empowering domestic entrepreneurs so they would be able to compete with imported products, as well as in cooperating with relevant authorities/regulators by providing input in the preparation of certification and standardization for domestic industrial products/services.

Telkom Network & IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko also said that the increase in domestic component rate was not only in terms of percentage, but also in expanding the implementation area and supported by existing policies in TelkomGroup. Meanwhile, technology owners who were also present in this discussion, such as Huawei, Nokia, ZTE and Fiber Home, said they are committed and in support of empowering local partners while still paying attention to criteria that prioritize quality and competitive prices.

Through collaboration with various parties, TelkomGroup expects it can participate in contributing to accelerate in empowering local industries in particular and producing quality products in a bid to boost the Indonesian economy in the future.
