Telkom Strengthens Food Security Through Sustainable Farming Program

Parungkujang - Food security remains a major challenge in many rural areas, particularly due to limited access to production inputs and low productivity of household-scale agriculture. This issue is increasingly critical as Indonesia strives to maintain its positive momentum. In 2025, the National Food Security Index (IKP) reached a score of 73.00, supported by rice self-sufficiency with a total production of 34.71 million tons. This progress has directly contributed to community welfare and household economic resilience, reflected in the increase of the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) to 125.35. To sustain this momentum, long-term programs are required, ones that not only focus on increasing agricultural yields but also strengthen community capacity to manage food resources independently and sustainably.

As part of its commitment to supporting national food security, Telkom Indonesia conducted a Harvest Festival and Monitoring Activity under the Sustainable Food Security Program for Agricultural Productivity Enhancement and Family Garden Development. The activity took place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Parungkujang Village, Cileles District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province. The program delivered harvest outputs to 40 beneficiaries engaged in agriculture and family garden initiatives. This activity aimed to review program achievements while ensuring the continuity and sustainability of benefits received by the community.

The Sustainable Food Security Program focuses on improving agricultural productivity and optimizing the use of household yards through the family garden concept to provide healthy, sustainable, and economically valuable food for families. The series of activities included an opening session, welcoming remarks, a harvest procession symbolizing the program's success, monitoring of family gardens to observe progress in land utilization by beneficiaries, and a closing prayer.

“As a digital company, Telkom not only focuses on developing infrastructure and services, but also on delivering tangible benefits to society. Through the Sustainable Food Security Program, Telkom supports the strengthening of agricultural productivity and family garden management through an integrated and measurable approach. We hope this program can serve as a catalyst in building food security and encouraging sustainable economic independence in rural communities,” said Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia.

By implementing the Sustainable Food Security Program for Agricultural Productivity Enhancement and Family Garden Development, Telkom Indonesia continues to strengthen its contribution to sustainable development through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL). This program aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger, which focuses on achieving food security and promoting sustainable agriculture. By encouraging increased agricultural productivity and optimal use of household land, this initiative is expected to enhance community food resilience and foster sustainable rural economic independence.
