BENGKULU, July 26, 2026 – The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) opens new opportunities for the younger generation to increase productivity and create economic opportunities. Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) in 2026, Generation Z is the group that most actively utilizes AI. This potential serves as an opportunity to drive a more inclusive digital transformation, including in rural areas.
Responding to this opportunity, TelkomGroup, through its education pillar Bisa PandAI and the Bisa Mahir program, continues to encourage the improvement of digital literacy and skills in the community. This initiative is directed at equipping the younger generation with the ability to utilize technology productively, while opening opportunities for the emergence of new economic activities at the community level. Through the spirit of Bersama Jadi Bisa (Together We Can), TelkomGroup believes that technological advancement will be even more meaningful when it can be utilized by and provide benefits for all levels of society, including the younger generation in rural areas.
As part of this commitment, TelkomGroup organized a workshop entitled "Digital Smart Generation: AI Utilization Training for Village Youth Groups to Boost Local Economy" in Bengkulu City on July 24–26, 2026. This activity was attended by 50 village youths, focusing on improving practical skills in utilizing AI tools for productive and economic activities.
In addition to equipping participants with digital skills, this program also encourages the emergence of new digital business units in village communities, including through Karang Taruna (Youth Organizations). The participants are expected to become digital literacy cadres who are able to share knowledge and assist the surrounding community in utilizing AI technology. Thus, the spirit of Bersama Jadi Bisa can be realized through the use of technology that delivers a real impact on increasing the community's productivity and economic welfare.
The Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia, Hery Susanto, conveyed that the mastery of digital technology, including AI, needs to be a part of the community's skills in the digital transformation era.
"As a digital company, Telkom wants to ensure that the utilization of technology, including artificial intelligence, can be felt by all elements of society. Through the Bisa PandAI pillar and the Bisa Mahir program, we encourage village youths to have skills and competitiveness in the digital era. We hope that AI mastery does not only remain as knowledge but can be translated into real solutions, opening business opportunities, creating independent employment, and driving the local economy. The spirit of Bersama Jadi Bisa is a manifestation of our belief that national progress can be achieved when all people have the opportunity to grow, develop, and take a role together," he said.
The implementation of the training in Bengkulu City is part of Telkom Indonesia's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR/TJSL) program, which consistently supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This program contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education through improving the digital skills of youth, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the development of digital-based business opportunities, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by encouraging equitable access to and utilization of digital technology between urban and rural communities.
