Jakarta – Amid the growing volume of paper waste, which remains a serious issue in Indonesia, a creative initiative has emerged that combines environmental awareness with artistic expression. Underwater Crafting, a brand born from a deep appreciation for nature, proves that paper waste can be transformed into high-value aesthetic products. Led by its founder, Wiwin Trsining K.S., this EcoArt concept successfully brought the mission of paper waste management to the national pitching stage at the Road to Best of The Best: Bumi Berseru Fest (BBF) 2025.

Underwater Crafting embodies environmental care through handcrafted products made from recycled materials. Winwin explained that her creative process is not merely about functionality but also serves as a visual medium for communicating sustainability messages. Through these crafts, the public is encouraged to reconsider the potential of discarded materials that are often perceived as worthless.

Wiwin’s journey at BBF 2025 began with her interest sparked through social media, further strengthened by support from her surroundings. Throughout the intensive program, she gained significant new perspectives. The program helped transform her idealistic ideas into a more structured and impactful framework. However, she acknowledged major challenges in product professionalism, particularly the need to enhance design skills so recycled products can compete in premium markets and reduce reliance on factory-produced paper.

The peak of this journey was the pitching session held on March 2–3, 2026. Reflecting on the experience, Wiwin shared:

"I felt tremendous pressure presenting in front of the judges. Despite physical exhaustion, I felt deep mental satisfaction, especially from the honest and critical feedback. For me, those strategic insights were far more valuable than praise, as they revealed crucial areas for improvement to sustain this project in the future."

The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. By changing public perceptions of waste, this initiative not only creates artistic products but also promotes more responsible consumption practices for environmental sustainability.

Bumi Berseru Fest 2025, initiated by Telkom Indonesia, continues to support environmental innovators like Wiwin in accelerating their ideas into competitive businesses. The program covers various categories, from environmental action to green technology, with funding and mentorship totaling hundreds of millions of rupiah.
